Sunrise UPC confirms the elimination of 200 jobs

In a perpetual quest for profitability! Sunrise UPC has confirmed its latest wave of job cuts! already announced at the end of November. According to a company press release! around 200 positions will be eliminated in the first quarter of 2024! resulting in at least 166 layoffs. These cuts mainly concern management positions.

“Sunrise has therefore decided to proceed with the elimination of 200 positions. The elimination of these positions takes into account natural fluctuations! internal transfers and early retirements! and will result by the end of March 2024! in 166 redundancies instead of the 180 initially planned (6% of the 2!703 FTE positions in total). Most of the redundancies will take place during the second half of January!” according to a press release .

A questionable strategy

These new cuts are a consequence of the digestion of shareholder database Sunrise by UPC! and not only from a financial point of view. It should be noted that these savings are made exclusively to boost the profitability of Sunrise UPC! if necessary on the backs of customers and the service to fill the pockets of the American Liberty Global. What will be the consequences on the working climate! or even on the running of business?

Sunrise UPC’s decision to cut jobs is also a (clumsy?) attempt to strengthen its market position. However! this strategy can be criticized! as it could have a negative impact in the long term. Indeed! it affects not only the image of the operator! but potentially also its operations.

Uncertain future in the market

Sunrise UPC’s future as a Sunrise UPC confirms serious date and time settings in windows competitor to Swisscom is therefore uncertain. If the company manages to minimise the impact of this decision on the quality of customer service! it could succeed in increasing its profitability without too much harm to the satisfaction of its subscribers. Otherwise! it could see its market position deteriorate further.Swisscom offers

No doubt. Sunrise UPC is pursuing its strategy as a list of us mobile phone numbers databases financial operator at full steam and is not concerned with developing its core business; telecoms. Some figures recently published by Sunrise UPC also show some difficulties. One may wonder how long this strategy can be pursued.
